Ottawa Bike and Trail's Moonrise Bike Ride

Moonrise Bike Ride is a bikepacking, food, and music festival held along the Flint Hills Trail. The event features two ride options: a two-night Moonrise Campfire Ride starting in Council Grove on Friday, September 11, and a one-night Moonrise Main Event starting in Ottawa on Saturday, September 12.The Campfire Ride is limited and includes an overnight stay at Base Camp Flint Hills in Allen on the first night. The Main Event hosts approximately 250–300 riders. Both groups converge at Pomona Lake State Park on Saturday evening for music, food, and camping. Step back to 1826, a time with the mountain man and the American Indians walked the recently purchased Louisiana Purchase. A time when Lewis and Clark had finished their exploration, and others were wanting to follow in their footsteps. The event interprets 1800-1840 with a traditional rendezvous when Mountain Men and American Indians camped together to trade for needed supplies from the fur companies. Activities may include Indian and Mountain Men Encampments, Historical Traders, Reenactors Blackpowder Shoot, Tomahawk Throw, Skillet Throw for the Ladies, and a Kids Gold Rush. Come out to Fall River State Park and step back to 1826.  This event celebrates National Public Lands Day - with FREE entrance to Fall River State Park.
