Step back to 1825, a time with the mountain man and the American Indians walked the recently purchased Louisiana Purchase. A time when Lewis and Clark had finished their exploration, and others were wanting to follow in their footsteps. The event interprets 1800-1840 with a traditional rendezvous when Mountain Men and American Indians camped together to trade for needed supplies from the fur companies. Activities may include Indian and Mountain Men Encampments, Historical Traders, Reenactors Blackpowder Shoot, Tomahawk Throw, Skillet Throw for the Ladies, and a Kids Gold Rush. Come out to Fall River State Park and step back to 1825.  This event celebrates National Public Lands Day - with FREE entrance to Fall River State Park.

 The Lawrence Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #2 is sponsoring a Hunter Education Course. ENROLL AT SAFEHUNTERS.COM. Friday, November 7, 2025 5:45-9:00 p.m. at The Lawrence First Presbyterian Church (2415 West Clinton Parkway, Lawrence, KS) in the Fellowship Hall AND Saturday, November 15, 2025 7:30 a.m-5:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge. Attendance on both days is required to pass. Parents or guardians of young students are welcome to attend along with their child if they like. PLEASE DO NOT ENROLL IN THE COURSE IF YOU ALREADY HAVE A HUNTER EDUCATION CERTIFICATE!! If you are only accompanying a child and do not need the course yourself, just come with them, do not enroll. Doing so uses up a spot a potential student may need. Students must be at least 11 years old as of November 15, 2025 to enroll in the course.

All persons born after July 1, 1957 must have a Hunter Education certificate to hunt in Kansas. When registering, please provide your full legal name and do not use nicknames. Directions to the FOP Lodge will be provided to students on the first evening of class. Dress for the weather on November 15, because most of the day will be outside. A lunch of hotdogs, beans and chips will be provided for $5.00 or students are welcome to bring their own lunch if they prefer.
