Celebrate Earth Day with Milford Nature Center!We will kick things off with a chat about how we can all be good environmental stewards for our planet in our daily lives. Then we'll commemorate Earth Day with a lake clean-up at Outlet Park to help keep our aquatic ecosystems beautiful and healthy for our native wildlife. To cover the most ground, we plan to separate into groups and come back together at the end. Prizes will be awarded to the group with the most trash collected!To add to the appreciation of our natural world, we'll have nature scavenger hunts to complete throughout or after the event if you choose. Participation giveaways will be available until the end of the day at the nature center!Trash grabbers and bags will be provided, with limited amounts of gloves. Wear weather appropriate clothes and bring water and a can-do attitude!All ages are welcome. Shop over 20 species of native Kansas plants suitable for both beginner and experienced native gardeners. Alongside our sale, we will have Geary County K-State Extension Office provide resources and guidance on native gardening and Valor Honey will be on-site with local honey available for purchase.For little ones needing a last minute gift, we will have arts and crafts for Mother’s Day and our DIY seed bombs to help with your journey of planting native species. Beware, you may get muddy!Not only can native plants add hardy, yet beautiful additions to your garden, they provide crucial food and shelter for our local pollinators too!
