Council Grove Waterfowl Report - Updated: 12/23/25

Waterfowl numbers Duck and goose numbers remain low and are changing frequently with widely variable weather.  Mergansers, goldeneye, mallards, and Canada geese predominate.                                                         
Water levels 0.4 feet below conservation elevation (1,274') on 12/23/25.    
Hunting conditions Ice is forming in shallows and wind protected areas on some days.  The lake remained full through September.  Moist soil plants are absent along lake fringes.  As such, few food resources will be available for waterfowl within lake environments.          
Expected hunting success Fair.
